Consultant Anaesthetist and Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia

Sarah studied medicine at Cambridge University and University College London and underwent her anaesthetic training in pretty much every corner of London. She is a consultant with specialist interests in obstetric anaesthesia and education and is currently Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia at a busy NHS Hospital in the UK with around 6000 deliveries per annum. She is published internationally for her research with interests in non-invasive cardiac output monitoring and ROTEM in obstetrics, having been awarded prizes at both the Society of Obestetric Anesthesiologists and Perinatologists (SOAP) and Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association (OAA) Annual Scientific Meetings.   

Sarah is an elected Executive Committee member of the OAA, where she is currently the Honorary Secretary, Chair of the Surveys Subcommittee and past-Chair of the Guidelines Subcommittee. She holds Honorary Senior Lecturerships at St George’s University London, Southamption and Brunel University Medical Schools. She has authored two revision textbooks for anaesthetic trainees and numerous chapters in obstetric anaesthesia. Outside of work when she’s not running around after her two boys she enjoys cycling up and down large hills, choral singing, and the odd glass of fine wine (although not all at the same time.)
