Dr. Jacob Hutchins is currently the director of the Regional Anesthesia Acute Pain and Ambulatory Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He is an assistant professor co-appointed in both the department of Anesthesiology and Department of Surgery. His current research interests include ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia in adult and pediatric patients in the areas of cardiac, thoracic, oncology, gynecology, urology, colorectal and orthopedic surgery. His research also involves the use of liposomal bupivacaine for postoperative pain control in a variety of surgical procedures. Dr. Hutchins completed a cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship and his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and undergraduate studies in Biology and Physiology at the University of Minnesota. He is originally from Rice, Minnesota.
