He graduated from P.J. Safarik University in Kosice, Slovakia and gained an MD degree in 1995. He received his postgraduate training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Slovakia and become a consultant in 2003.
Dr.Merjavy successfully passed ESRA Diploma in 2008 and he was awarded PhD in 2011. He works as Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for MSc in Regional Anaesthesia (Module 1 – applied anatomy for RA) in University of East Anglia, Norwich since 2012.
He also is appointed by ESRA as an Examiner for European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia.
Dr.Merjavy regularly teaches on ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia courses nationally and internationally. He is a founder and main organizer of various RA courses in Slovakia (Kosice RA Course) and in Northern Ireland (Queens RA-UK Cadaveric Course, Belfast). He is also a founder and current president of Slovak Association of Regional Anaesthesia (SKARA).
His main interests are regional anaesthesia, ultrasound, anatomy, anaesthesia for T&O surgery, vascular access and difficult airway management.
